Hey Kiersten! Thanks for the post! I was wondering what you store your coconut oil in for the flight?

    • I bought 12- 1 oz. cosmetics jars off amazon so I could pack travel friendly sized liquids. These blue ones are great. Just melt the coconut oil and pour it into one of the containers and it’ll solidify again 🙂

Great list, but I have a few thoughts to add.

First of all, those Perfect bars sound delicious, but peanut butter may not be the best thing to bring on a plane. There’s no way of knowing if one of the people around you has a deadly allergy, and that healthy snack might leave a bitter taste if it causes a medical emergency at 40,000 feet.

Also, make sure you use water from your water bottle to brush your teeth, not from the tap. The water tanks on planes are often contaminated with coliform, E. coli, and other harmful bacteria. It’s probably not a bad idea to use hand sanitizer after washing your hands in the bathroom too, and avoid the coffee and tea unless you know it’s been made with bottled water, just to be safe.

In addition to keeping a physical copy of your important travel documents, you might want to scan them and email a copy to yourself and/or someone you trust with your life (in my case, that’s my mom) – so that, on the extreme off chance that you get separated from all of your luggage somehow, you still have a way to prove your identity .

On an up note, every airline I’ve flown with has offered special meals to accommodate various dietary requirements (kosher, vegan/vegetarian, low-sodium, gluten-free, etc.) on flights that serve meals. I always order the vegetarian meal because I am a vegetarian, but I have friends who order special meals even though they don’t ‘need’ them because they find that the food is usually better quality than the standard in-flight meals. It’s not a packing tip, exactly, but it is something you need to arrange with the airline at least a couple of days before your flight.

    • Thanks for including all the tips! The Perfect Bar almond butter bars are safe as they’re prepared using allergen testing to ensure there are no peanuts in them – unless in the case someone is severely allergic, but typically an airline will announce if someone is allergic to peanuts before boarding. If that’s the case, the bars are sealed so you can always save it for after the flight. 🙂

My favorite smart features of my old home! 🏠

I put a lot of thought and design into my home, so I knew I had to get curated, high-tech window shades to match.

Enter @rollishades — sleek, custom motorized shades that actually elevate the space while solving the very real sunlight problem. From light-filtering to blackout options, everything is tailored to fit perfectly and controlled with the touch of a button (or app). It’s the kind of smart, intentional design that makes a home feel finished. 🪟🤍

I easily installed these in my guest bedroom and let me just say, when guests come over, they’re getting what feels like a hotel experience in my home (minus the room service).
