  1. I’ve been camping a few times and it’s always fun to go to a new site. I also never thought about camping at sites with cliffs and so much scenery. I’ve never camped in Cali but I have camped near the beaches in Florida.

    • You definitely have to try some California campsites!

Native Californian here: Bureau of Land Management lands allow what is called dispersed camping which means you can tent camp just about anywhere although there will not be facilities of any sort and you must not scar the place with fire rings etc. If you really want wild and free check out BLM district offices web pages and get away from crowded noisy campgrounds and increasingly costly fees. Plus you can still find natural beauty and wild life in abundance. And please do not call California “Cali.”

    • Oh hi there! Love meeting other people born and raised in California. I see you’re commenting from San Jose, so looks like another one of those “Nor Cal” “So Cal” disagreements. You say hella. We say Cali. 😉

Thanks for the positive contribution to this article. As you mentioned, yes, it’s possible to camp outside of organized camp sites. But, as you already know those “increasing costly fees” help support the maintenance and preservation of our state parks. Hopefully we can at least agree that the more we encourage people to get outdoors, the better. No matter how they choose to do it, or what they choose to call it.

Well said. You know you’re on the right track when you can shorten your name and everyone still knows who you are. After reading some of the comments about camping, thought I’d share our site for those who don’t like sleeping in the dirt, but still want to hear the waves crashing on the beach: RV rentals by owner, delivered and set up at your destination. Cheers from Cali!

My favorite smart features of my old home! 🏠

I put a lot of thought and design into my home, so I knew I had to get curated, high-tech window shades to match.

Enter @rollishades — sleek, custom motorized shades that actually elevate the space while solving the very real sunlight problem. From light-filtering to blackout options, everything is tailored to fit perfectly and controlled with the touch of a button (or app). It’s the kind of smart, intentional design that makes a home feel finished. 🪟🤍

I easily installed these in my guest bedroom and let me just say, when guests come over, they’re getting what feels like a hotel experience in my home (minus the room service).
