What defines a boutique hotel? In my mind, it’s a small, design-focused property that is usually not part of a chain. A lot of times, it’s a historical building that’s been restored with a really cool vibe.
If Airbnb isn’t available in a certain area or you’re wanting other amenities available at a hotel, while not skimping on the charm—staying at a boutique hotel might just be the way to go!
With so many cool properties around the world, I know it can be difficult to pick the right place to stay at!

I stayed here a few years back and loved that it was situated right near the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park. This hotel was more of an “experience,” to say the least. It’s surrounded by hot springs—which provide geothermal hot water and energy to the hotel and its natural hot pool.
