As a woman who has traveled a lot solo, your blog is an inspiration and it’s great that you did this/are doing this, while young. I waited until my late 30s because I thought it wasn’t possible and because I waited around for the “right” time and someone to travel with me. The internet does make it so much easier, however. When I first went abroad as a student in Italy, there was no internet (early 90s) and it was so much harder to stay in touch as well as plan travel.
however, I do want to say regarding your comment about ‘dressing to blend in”, do NOT wear shorts abroad, unless you are on a beach in Thailand or Ibiza! Shorts mark you as an American and in a lot of cultures, people are quite offended by it. Not just places like India, but even Italy. Women in Italy do not walk around on the streets in shorts. If you do it in India, you will be majorly harassed. I notice that in a lot of your photos, you are in short-shorts and crop tops. OK in southern California, really not ok in most of the rest of the world.

I’ll be going on my first solo trip abroad come February.. I’m excited but most scared (shhh don’t tell my mom). Your information and views of your personal experiences really eases the tension… I’ll be a regular on the site from here on out. Also, my target destination is Greece… any advice you feel you should really share?

My favorite smart features of my old home! 🏠

I put a lot of thought and design into my home, so I knew I had to get curated, high-tech window shades to match.

Enter @rollishades — sleek, custom motorized shades that actually elevate the space while solving the very real sunlight problem. From light-filtering to blackout options, everything is tailored to fit perfectly and controlled with the touch of a button (or app). It’s the kind of smart, intentional design that makes a home feel finished. 🪟🤍

I easily installed these in my guest bedroom and let me just say, when guests come over, they’re getting what feels like a hotel experience in my home (minus the room service).
