My most memorable travel experience was taking a month to backpack through Italy. I saw Milan, Venice, Cinque Terre, Florence, Siena, Pisa, Rome, and Sorrento/the Amalfi Coast. It was an amazing trip and got to experience the transition of the northern Italian lifestyle to the southern. It’s the perfect combination of culture, history, art, hiking, and beautiful scenery. Plus, it was a month of pasta and gelato! I’d also add comic con to the list for the nerdier traveler like myself. I’ll never forget walking through San Diego at 2am, getting to the center to get in line super early for a panel that began at 10am that morning. There were my sister and I in our cosplays (myself in a homemade Queen Cersei from Game of Thrones dress, my sister as Katniss) passing through the drunken crowd still partying. I’ve never felt more true to myself in that moment.

    • I absolutely love Italy, and the Amalfi Coast is probably my favorite! And as a San Diego native, I totally get the ComicCon hype. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. Kiersten,
I am a 20 year old wanting to go for a short trip by myself. I plan on going somewhere in the states but I’m not sure where to go. Also, cost of flights and hotels will be expensive. Tips to save? Any idea of an easy trip to make?

    • Hi Victoria! Be sure to check out my Student Travel and Budget Travel sections! I would definitely check on flight deals, since many domestic airlines run promotions from time to time – you just need to be a bit flexible. Also, you can find great hostels in pretty much every major US city, so consider those for accommodation and it will cut down on your spending 🙂 safe travels! xx

My favorite smart features of my old home! 🏠

I put a lot of thought and design into my home, so I knew I had to get curated, high-tech window shades to match.

Enter @rollishades — sleek, custom motorized shades that actually elevate the space while solving the very real sunlight problem. From light-filtering to blackout options, everything is tailored to fit perfectly and controlled with the touch of a button (or app). It’s the kind of smart, intentional design that makes a home feel finished. 🪟🤍

I easily installed these in my guest bedroom and let me just say, when guests come over, they’re getting what feels like a hotel experience in my home (minus the room service).
