A list like this is very much appreciated. As a young female traveller, I’ve been to about 25 on my own. I would just like to say that Thailand is not one of them! I was abducted in a cab in Bangkok in a story that is to long to tell here, but I advise women not to travel this country alone. Bangkok was one the number one city in the world for the sex trade.

Otherwise hit the road and have fun!

    • Wow… I’m sorry to hear that happened to you. I’ve never heard of someone having a dangerous experience as a solo female in Thailand, and I hope your situation is unique. Not to downplay your experience, but I would still stand behind Thailand being incredibly safe for female travelers. Unfortunately, bad things can happen anywhere.

Yeah. I wouldn’t have included Thailand on the list. I had an incident too, and I was with my family..

I had an abduction experience in Thailand too as a solo female, and I’m tall and very capable physically. Beware of tuk tuk drivers in Bangkok. I’ve been to about half of the destinations on this list and agree they are great, just please ladies be careful in Thailand.

  2. This list makes me want to jump (back) on a plane! I have done many solo trips as a female but none abroad so this is very helpful!

Spending a year abroad sounds exciting… until you see the planning involved.

Flights, edits, contracts, itineraries — not to mention the admin of being a mom. I’m usually running everything at once, so having a laptop that can keep up makes a huge difference.

I’ve been using an AMD Ryzen AI–powered laptop to keep everything organized, run AI tools even when WiFi isn’t available, and work from wherever we happen to be in the world.

So I can finish what I need to do… and get back to what’s most important ❤️
