Milos
You might have seen Milos mentioned in my Tips for Traveling Greece on a Budget. I adore this island and not just because it’s one of the more affordable Greek islands — though that’s a definite perk!
On the southwestern edge of the Cyclades group of islands, this off-the-beaten destination gives you a glimpse into the authentic local culture.
Far from the cookie-cutter hotels and restaurants that you find in too many Greek tourist hotspots, Milos is the real deal.
Naxos
Everybody knows that the Greek islands are a bucket list destination for beach lovers. As any bonafide beach bum knows, however, the beach is many things to many people.
If your seaside sojourns are more about making a splash than soaking in the sun, Naxos is for you.
A watersports wonderland, you can windsurf, kitesurf, stand-up paddleboard, or surf the high seas of Naxos. Total newbie? No worries! There are plenty of schools to get you started.

Mykonos
One of the most popular destinations in the Greek Islands, Mykonos is probably one of the most familiar names on the list.
I’ve been here a few times and each time is a bit different. You can go for a wild non-stop party or have a whirlwind romantic escape in one of the many lux resorts.

Knossos at Crete
Crete
While it is a dreamy year-round destination, Crete is one of my favorite places for an April vacation. With pastel villas dotting the white-sand coastline between the vibrant cities of the island, you can have a bit of everything here.
The biggest of all the Greek islands, this is a prime pick if you want to do a lot of exploring without island hopping.
Hydra
Sailing the Saronic Islands in Greece, I got a chance to check out the tiny island of Hydra. Only 50 square kilometers (31 square miles), you won’t find a single car or motorbike here. Locals often travel by water taxis on this laidback island.

Paros

Sure, gorgeous beaches are a dime a dozen in Greece, but these are on another level.
Famous for its Instagram-worthy beaches and traditional villages, Paros is one of those rare destinations where you can get an authentic dose of culture and world-class beaches.
Ios
Between Naxos and Santorini, you’ll find the much-loved island of Ios.
This Cycladic island in the heart of the Aegean Sea is a popular party spot. A bit more budget-friendly than Mykonos but every bit as beautiful, Ios attracts a younger crowd.

Rhodes
You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale as you explore this historic village of Rhodes.
As one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval towns, the Unesco World Heritage Site Rhodes Old Town is a captivating look at what life used to be like in Greece.

Kos
Another haven for history lovers, Kos has a winding trail of ancient Greek and Roman treasures to discover.
Wander villas from the third century, sip cocktails on the beach, then jet-set away as you walk wild peacocks roam in the distance. How does that sound for a day out?

My brother got married in Greece–he married a wonderful woman from Athens. OK this was 29 yrs ago but I remember it clearly. They were married in the Vouliagmeni-kavouri area of Greece. Stunning is such a small word for the beauty that we saw while there.
